Terms of Service
These Terms of Service apply to reservations made directly with Sumach House through our website or other direct booking channels.
Reservations
A reservation is confirmed once the required payment has been successfully processed and a booking confirmation has been issued.
Guests are responsible for providing accurate contact, payment, and reservation information.
Rates and taxes
All rates are shown in Canadian dollars unless otherwise stated.
Applicable taxes and fees will be added where required and will be shown during the booking process before payment is completed.
Payment
Payments for direct reservations are processed securely through our payment providers, including Stripe and Guesty.
By completing a reservation, you authorize the applicable charges associated with your booking.
Cancellation policy
Bookings may be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours of booking, provided check-in is not within the next 48 hours.
After the 24-hour cancellation period, reservations are non-refundable.
If you need to cancel after that period, please contact us as soon as possible. If we are able to rebook some or all of the cancelled nights, we may refund the amount recovered from the replacement booking, less any applicable fees.
No refund is guaranteed unless the cancelled dates are successfully rebooked.
Check-in and check-out
Check-in is available after 3:00 p.m. and check-out is before 11:00 a.m., unless otherwise agreed in advance.
House rules
Guests agree to follow the House Rules provided at the time of booking and during the stay, including rules relating to quiet hours, smoking, parties, shared spaces and maximum occupancy.
Failure to follow the House Rules may result in the reservation being ended without refund where reasonably necessary to protect other guests, the property or the operation of Sumach House.
Property and damages
Guests are responsible for any damage caused by themselves or members of their party beyond normal wear and tear.
Guests should notify Sumach House promptly of any damage, maintenance issue, or safety concern that arises during their stay.
Shared amenities
Certain areas and amenities at Sumach House may be shared with other guests, including the rooftop terrace, cedar hot tub, kitchen and dining areas where applicable.
Guests are asked to use shared spaces respectfully and leave them tidy after use.
Availability of amenities
We make reasonable efforts to keep advertised amenities available. Occasionally, an amenity may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, repair, safety concerns, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Guest responsibility
Guests are responsible for reviewing the property description, room details, house rules and booking terms before completing their reservation.
Third-party bookings
Reservations made through third-party platforms are also subject to the terms, policies and cancellation conditions shown by that platform at the time of booking. Where those terms differ from these direct-booking terms, the applicable platform terms will govern that reservation.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Sumach House is not responsible for loss, damage or interruption caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The terms applicable to a reservation are those in effect at the time the reservation is made, unless otherwise required by law.
